As we all know, genealogy is an on-going process. To me, that statement sums up my research on the Sewell line so perfectly. Two years ago I broke through a brick wall and discovered information about my Grandmother’s line. Since then, I have not made any new discoveries, however I do review my research from time to time. The best thing for me to do right now is to share the research that I have so far. As I go on to fully review every person, I’ll be sharing what I come across. Let’s start with my Grandmother, Nancy.
Nancy Sewell passed away in 1978, and previous to that did not share a lot of information with my parent. It took the collective knowledge of three Aunts and two Great-Aunts to discover just enough about Nancy’s parents and grandparents to research. Initially there were a lot of finds, mostly which I am still leafing through. Vital statistics have been more difficult for me to track down, although not impossible, and I use them where I can.
- Nancy June Sewell was born March 20, 1940, or March 15 1940. Or 1942. The point is, her exact birth date is not yet confirmed as the death certificate is not one hundred percent reliable, there was no known marriage certificate for her and my grandfather, and as of yet I do not have a birth record. However I know she existed. Her parents were Francis George Matthew Sewell and 3. Ruth Jean Raymond. Nancy was born in Toronto, Ontario. She married and had two step-children, six children, and took in her three youngest siblings after her mother’s passing in 1960. Nancy passed away on September 16, 1978 and is buried in Sylvan Acres in Waubamick, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.
- Francis George Matthew Sewell was born March 26, 1911 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to parents Joseph Charles Sewell and Rosina Maude Wright. No marriage record has been found to date between him and Ruth, however they had their first child together in 1937. Francis passed away on July 28, 1985 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Ruth Jean Raymond was born March 7, 1917 in Foxmead (Coldwater), Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada, to parents William Louis Raymond and Ethel Gardiner. She passed away on May 4, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is buried with Francis in Pine Hills Cemetery.
The new family lines that have opened up are Raymond, Wright and Gardiner. Currently the rest of the information on these three lines will have to wait until I comb through records and confirm more family ties.
